Electron Physics Chair

General information

The chair of "Physical Electronics" was founded in 1994. Since 1995 it has been carrying out a graduating class of engineers-physics on the specialty "Physical electronics" and since 1999 – on the specialty "Physical and bio-medical electronics".

The chair was accredited according to the 4th highest level of accreditation (the licence of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine ¹122099 since 27.07.2001.); it is training specialists with higher education according to the three-stage system:

  • bachelor – according to the direction 6.0908 "Electronics" with 4-year term of education;
  • engineer-physic - according to the specialty 7.090804 "Physical and bio-medical electronics" with 5-year term of education;
  • master - according to the specialty 8.090804 with 5-6-year term of education.

Training of specialists is carried out according to the daily form of education and is carried out according to the specializations:

  • physics and technology of materials and components of electronic technology;
  • physical electronics;
  • bio-medical electronics.

Head of the chair is a Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, professor Olemskoj Olexandr I. The cabinet of the head of the chair is located at the Electro-Technical building on the first storey, room ¹108À.

History of the chair "Physical electronics"

The chair was founded in 1988 under the title “Applied physics”. The chair was headed by the corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences, professor V.J. Storizhko. A great volume of works on the organization of the chair was executed by his deputy, at that time an assistant professor G.S.Vorobjov as yet.

On September 15, 1992 in connetion with the suspense of admittance to the specialty 18.04 "Technics and electrophysics of high voltages" and opening of the specialty 20.01 "Physical electronics" for executing of the corresponding decision of the academic council of physico-technical institute since 31.08.92 the chairs of of applied physics and theoretical physics were united into one – the chair of theoretical physics, having laid the functions of the graduate chair with the mentioned specialties on it. The head of the chair was professor, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences V.V. Kulish.

Since April 1, 1994 at the basis of the corresponding section of the chair of theoretical physics was created the chair of physical electronics, as long as since 1995 the graduating class of specialists on physical electronics begins, it demands a single special methodological approach to the preparation of specialists of the given profile and their further preparation within the borders of one chair, that leads a great volume of fundamental general-engineering and special disciplines, becomes pointless.

For preparation of specialists on electronic-physical vacuum devices since February, 1 1996 at the basis of joint-stock company "SELMI" was organized a branch of the chair of physical electronics.

Since 1995 and until present the chair has been headed by the professor, Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences Î.². Olemskoj. Three doctors and six candidates of sciences work at the chair staff.

Scientific work

Scientific work

Three scientific directions are developed at the chair.

Theory of unbalanced condenced environment

Scientific adviser is professor Î.². Olemskoj. There work 1 Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences, 4 candidates of physical-mathematic sciences, 2 people working for a doctor’s degree, 2 post-graduates, 3 people working for a master's degree and 3 students in the group staff.

The main directions of scientific researches:

  • field theory of stage transitions in stochastically disturbed systems: spatially – temporary behavior of self-similar stochastically disturbed systems;
  • supersymmetric theory of unbalanced condenced environment (the main objects of researches are spin glass, disordered heteropolymers, hierarchical society);
  • synergetic models and theory of self-organized criticality: kinetics of unbalanced stage transitions, modulated structures, glass transition of liquid, transformation of regimes of explosive crystallization of amorphous substance, model of avalanche forming, nature of anomalous physical-mechanical properties of nano- and submicrochips, optimization of transport currents.

The main achievements of researches are published in the leading scientific editions: NOVA science Publishers, „Magazine of experimental and theoretical physics”, „Successes of physical sciences”, „Physics of solid bodies”, Physics letters, „Ukrainian physical magazine”, Journal of physical studies.

There have been published 4 monographs, about 15 reviews and over 150 scientific publications.

Diffractional electronics

Modern radioelectronics has a great need in different types of highly coherent sources of vibrations of millimeter and submillimeter wave band. One of the perspectives ways of solution to this problem is the use of radiation effects in vacuum electronics: radiation of Vavilov-Cherenkov and Smitt-Parcel, and also transitional and diffractional radiations. Work in the field of researches of physical properties is carried out of the mentioned types of radiation, that arouse with movement of charged particles along the periodical metal-dielectric structures of different modifications. There have been determined physical rules are realized in the form of concrete schemes on hew devices of diffractional electronics and methods of diagnostics electron jets.

This direction has been developing at the university since 1989 under the guidance of professor G.S. Vorobyov, who in 2000 first in the specialized academic council of the Sumy region defended a dissertation for getting the scientific degree of the Doctor of physical-mathematical sciences. At present 3 candidates of sciences, post-graduates, people working for a master's degree and students are working at the problem. There functions a laboratory equipped with modern equipment, and also original experimental sets for researches of the processes of interaction of electromagnetic fields with electronic currents and diagnostics of their microstructure.

During the time of work of the collective there have been executed three economical agreements with enterprises and scientific establishments, three state budget themes from the fundamental researches. According to the results of scientific work there have been published more that 70 articles, received 2 patents and 2 author certificates for invention.

Extra-hard covering at the basis of carbides of transition metals

Scientific direction has been developing since 1995 under the guidance of candidate of physical-mathematical sciences, assistant professor V.². Perekrestov, who prepaired for the defence a doctoral thesis.

By the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine ¹ 1118 since June, 22 of 1999 this direction has been included into the interfield program of development of the scientific instrument-making.

In the laboratory of structure researches there has been developed a technology, that gives a possibility to change the chemical composition and structure of coverings in the wide scope, it gives them a unique combination of mechanical properties. Thus, when using this technology for strengthening of the covering, which is rubbed in the combustion engines, even with getting sand in it, it will be everlasting. Another advantage lies in little energy output and a high degree of management of technological parameters. In the laboratory there are also researches of transition layers also executed at the basis of perspective construction materials – titanium and chromium.

In tight cooperation with the joint-stock company „Selmi” there is carried out development of the new technological equipment. Post-graduates, people working for master’s degree and students take an active part in the scientific-constructor work.

At present there is carried out scientific-research work according to the state budget themes:

  • synergetic theory of condensed environment (scientific adviser Doctor of physical-mathematical sciences, professor, Î.². Olemskoj);
  • wave processes in the open electrodynamic systems with movement of non-relativistic electrons along the periodical metal-dielectric structures (scientific adviser Doctor of physical-mathematical sciences, professor G.S. Vorobyov).

There were a post-graduate course and a course for a doctor’s degree opened at the chair on the specialties „Physical electronics” and „Solid-state physics”. At the SSU since 1990 has been functioning a specialized academic council on the defence of dissertations for getting the scientific degree of the candidate of physical-mathematical and technical sciences according to these specialties. Its members are leading teachers of the chair. Planned preparation of the scientific-pedagogical staff is carried out at the chair. There have been defended 1 doctoral and 8 Ph.D. theses. At present 4 people working for a doctor’s degree and 8 post-graduates study at the chair.

Scientists of the chair take part in many international conferences in Ukraine and abroad. In 1995 teachers of the chair took an active part in the preparation and carrying out of the Scientific-technical conference „Technics and physics of electron systems and devices” (May, 18 – 20 of 1995), in 1996 and 1999 in the preparation and carrying out of the International scientific-technical conference „International conference MPSL”, which took part in Sumy.
