Philosophy Chair

Philosophy chair was founded May 31, 1991 as a sequence of sociology and philosophy chair’s division. The Doctor of Philosophic Science Valentyn M. Vandyshev (born 1947) became a chief of the chair. From April 2000 to August 2004 the chair was headed by the Doctor of Philosophic Science and professor Borys I. Tarel’nyk (1928-2002) and also by the candidate of philosophic sciences, associate professor Alina.F. Slivins’ka. Since September 1, 2004 the chief of the chair is professor V.M. Vandyshev.

The chair is located on the 6th floor of the SSU Main Building; rooms № 701, 705, 706, 712; the telephone number is 39-22-67. There are several personal computers that are connected up to the Internet.

The chair forms a part of the Faculty of Humanities. The chair lecturers teach all the philosophic disciplines at all faculties and in accordance with all specialties.

Here was opened the post-graduate study in philosophic disciplines.

During the whole chair’s existence the lecturers have been performing a considerable work in training post-graduates in accordance with all scientific specialties.

CHAIR LECTURERS

1. Valentyn M. Vandyshev is a Doctor of Philosophic Science (1990), professor (1992). He is a KPI (1973) and Shevchenko KSU (1977) graduate. He has defended his doctor’s thesis according to a topic “Natural and Scientific Cognition Differentiation Philosophic Analysis”. For today he is a member of two specialized academic councils: by Kharkiv National University – Д 64.051.06 and by Philosophy Institute of the Ukrainian National Academy of Science – Д 26.161.03.
2. Tetyana O. Kozyntseva is a candidate of philosophic science (1994), associate professor (2000), she has graduated from Shevchenko KSU (1988) and has defended thesis according to a topic “National Idiom Concept in Philosophy (Methodological Aspect)”. She performs an important teaching and educational work as a deputy dean of the faculty of humanities.
3. V’yacheslav O. Artyuch is a candidate of philosophical science (2001), associate professor (200-), he graduated from Makarenko SPI (19--) and defended thesis according to a topic “National Myth Nature: Historical and Philosophic Context”, works at a Doctor’s thesis.
4. Iryna V. Yeremenko is a candidate of philosophic sciences (2001), acting associate professor, she graduated from Makarenko SPI and defended thesis according to a topic “Biological Systems Evolution Synergetic Analysis”.
5. Iryna O. Bushman is a candidate of philosophic sciences (2005)and an assistant. She graduated from Makarenko SPI (2000) in chemistry and biology specialty. The thesis topic is “Education System as a Way of Ukrainian Culture Modernization”.
6. Illya V. Zagryazhs’ky is an assistant, he graduated from Ural State University (19--) and from philosophic faculty and post-graduate study by Leningrad State University.

All the disciplines are provided with methodical guideline, methodical manuals and training literature. A methodical room works by the chair where students are enabled to get their consultations and prepare for practical lessons, credits and examinations.

SCIENTIFIC WORK

Chair lecturers are productively engaged in a scientific work according to their chosen topics.

During 1993-2004 professor V.M. Vandyshev as a an executive scientific editor organized the publication of 14 “Visnyk” scientific editions of Karazin Kharkiv National University, Zaporizhzhya National Engineering Academy, Franko Zhitomyr State University etc.

The scientific conferences that are up to national and international standards are regularly organized at the chair:

• International conferences: „Person: Spirit, Soul and Body” (1993, 1996, 1999, 2000)
• Scientific conference: „Reformation Philosophic and Theological Spirit. To the 500^th Anniversary of Philip Melanchton” (1997).
• Scientific and practical conference: „Academic Education Humanitarization Philosophical Problems” that was implemented in June in Berdyans’k (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004).
• International scientific and theoretical conference: „Ukraine in the Euro Integration Context” (2005).
