International Scientific Conference “E-learning at Higher School - Problems and Perspectives” (INCEL-08)

SSU delegation took part in International Scientific Conference “E-learning at Higher School - Problems and Perspectives” (INCEL-08) that was held in terms of TEMPUS project “Practicing in Development of Distant Education System in Ukraine” in Odessa National Polytechnic University on May, 13-15 2008.

The delegation presenting SSU experience in the area of E-learning and our scientific work included:

  • V.O.Lyubchak – Vice-Rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Ph.D. of physical-mathematical sciences, associate professor;
  • O.A. Litvinenko – an associate professor of MSS chair, Ph.D. of economic science;
  • O.A.Shovkoplyas – an assistant of MSS chair;
  • M.Kolomiyets’ – a programmer of the laboratory of distant education.

The organization committee of the conference:

  • Odessa National Polytechnic University

With the participation of:

  • sponsor help of European educational program TEMPUS,
  • and a raw of firms that produce well-known programs and software for studying.

Conference was of interdisciplinary character and was focused to study all existing tendencies and results in E-learning at higher educational establishments and also to stimulate the spreading of the experience in the sphere of practical implementation and usage of these means in Ukrainian higher school.

Most attention was concentrated on the development of E-learning system in Ukraine including distant education and usage of e-learning technologies as a form o support of traditional methods of studying.

At the conference one could listen to reports of main specialists in e-learning - scientists from Austria, Great Britain, Norway, Germany, Lithuania, Slovenia, Russia and Ukraine. Among Ukrainian participants there were representatives of higher educational establishments from many Ukrainian cities such as Kharkiv, Odessa, Sumy, L’viv, Dnepropetrovsk, Sevastopol’, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankovsk, Zaporizzhya, Uzhgorod, Herson, Vinnytsya, Rivne.

Sections of the conference::

  1. General problems of e-learning in higher educational establishments;
  2. Technical support of e-learning;
  3. Pedagogical and psychological problems of e-learning.

Different exhibitions-presentations of modern means of technical support of e-learning from famous developers took place:

  • Microsoft-Ukraine
  • Fronter International, Norway
  • IMC, Germany

Creative and kind atmosphere of communication between the representatives of different countries influenced making plans for future cooperation and co-projects.
