Sports Days
The first students’ sports day was implemented in 1966-1967 academic year at Sumy branch of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute in 12 kinds of sport. Three academic groups took part in it. Since that moment the countdown of sports days has begun at our University. The first sport day among teachers and members of Sumy branch of Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute was implemented in 1968-1969 academic year.
2005-2006 – the 40th sports day of Sumy State University.
Teachers of the physical training chair support the traditions of sports days implementation at our University.

The competitions among students in the SSU sports day are carried out in accordance with the following kinds of sport:
- Aerobics.
- Basketball (women).
- Basketball (men).
- Volleyball (women).
- Volleyball (men).
- Handball (women).
- Handball (men).
- Track-and-field cross-country race.
- Ping-pong.
- Swimming.
- Football.
- Gymnasium football.
- Chess.
- Draughts.

Provision
The swimming pool, the sport complex, and gymnasiums of other buildings, the ski and rowing bases, football fields with an artificial covering – all this stuff is for students’ service.
