The Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies of SSU is a modern and dynamically developing institution which trains specialists in banking and finance, economics, accounting and taxation and international economic relations.

The history of Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies "UAB" began in 1996, when the Ukrainian Academy of Banking was founded in Sumy.

During the short period of its existence the UAB has become a higher education institution of the European type. It has accreditation of the highest level. According to “Sophia of Kiev”, rating of Ukraine’s universities, the UAB’s among the top ten of the country’s best economic educational institutions. It won a silver prize at the International exhibition “Modern education in Ukraine – 2002” and received a diploma “For contribution to the development of the national educational system”. In 2004 the UAB was awarded a bronze medal in the nomination “Innovative pedagogical methods in educational process”, and in the year of 2005 it was given a bronze statue as one of the country’s best universities. In 2008, the UAB won the competition “100 best products from Ukraine” in the “Educational services” nomination.

In 2011, the UAB became the winner of All-Ukrainian competition “The best university for the training of specialists in the banking and financial sector – 2011” in the nomination “The best university according to the quality of retraining of specialists for the banking and financial sector in Ukraine”.

In 2012, the UAB received the award of the All-Ukrainian competition “The best university for the training of specialists in the banking and financial sector – 2012” in the nomination “The best university according to the quality of training and retraining of banking employees”.

2013 was a fruitful year for the UAB. It became the winner of the third All-Ukrainian competition “The best university for the training of specialists in the banking and financial sector according to the ‘Banker’ magazine” in the nomination “The best university for the training of graduate and doctoral students”.

In January 2014, the Museum of electronic office equipment was opened. The Center of Socio-Economic Research and Academic Mobility was established for coordination of activities of Departments and other structural units of the UAB to enhance international scientific and educational cooperation as well as academic exchanges of students, faculty and post-graduates, to encourage the UAB’s participation in grant programs and competitions.

In 2014 the UAB was awarded with a silver medal and diploma in the category “Activities of educational institutions in the development of international cooperation” and received a diploma “For the achievements in innovative modernization of the national education” at the Fifth International Exhibition “Modern Educational Institutions – 2014”.

In December 2015 the UAB was reorganized by making it a part of Sumy State University. According to the decisions of the two scientific councils of Sumy State University and the Ukrainian Academy of Banking the Education and Research Institute for Business Technologies “UAB” of Sumy State University (ERI BT “UAB) was established.

Nowadays Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “UAB” accepts students for graduate programmes on such majors:

• Economics;
• Finance, Banking and Insurance;
• International Economic relations;
• Accounting and Taxation.

The administration of Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “UAB” of Sumy State University is represented by the Acting Director Iryna Dyakonova and Deputy Directors.

SSU Academic and Research Institute of Business Technologies “UAB” consists of 7 Departments:

Teaching staff is composed of more than 100 lecturers with scientific degrees and practical and research experience. This allows us to teach students according to modern requirements.

The graduate students work effectively according to the majors:

051 “Economics” (educational program “Economic Cybernetics”) – the training of specialists in programming, construction and maintenance of computer networks, information security, database creation, software for mathematical and statistical analysis, information systems in the economy, project management, operating systems, data mining, statistics, economics and mathematical modeling , forecasting of socioeconomic processes, economic theory, macro and microeconomics, enterprise economics, management, marketing, etc.

051 “Economics” (educational program “Data Science”) – the training of specialists with the knowledge of economics and mathematical methods and information technologies for collecting, processing and analyzing data arrays; programming languages for statistical processing; intellectual methods for business process analysis; modeling of business process scenarios; building and working with databases; identifying and solving business problems; decision making technologies in different situations; creation of scientifically grounded forecasts of the development of economic phenomena, etc.

292 “International Economic Relations” (educational program “International Business”, Foreign Economic Relations) – the training of specialists in effective conduct of international business, international law, economics and commercial diplomacy, organization and planning of international economic activity, international marketing, international finance, international currency and dealing operations, international investment activity, international accounting standards, modern business communication and cross-cultural management with foreign language skills.

071 “Accounting and Taxation” (educational program “Accounting and Auditing”) – the training of specialists with the knowledge of financial, managerial, budget, tax accounting and international financial reporting standards; economic analysis and financial control and audit; application of information and communication technologies in accounting and auditing; taxation and tax management.

072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” (educational program “ State and Local Finances”) – the training of specialists in state and local finance, financial law, financial security of the state, treasury, tax system, state financial monitoring of the budget system; working with programs of the treasury, fiscal services, local authorities; discover practical and effective methods for managing financial and economic processes, obtain professional qualities of the manager of financial management and financial risks

072 “Finance, Banking and Insurance” (educational program “Banking”) – the training of specialists with the knowledge in various spheres and areas of functioning of the banking system: methods and tools for analyzing and forecasting the state of the banking services market, management of financial resources and risks, organization of credit and deposit operations, settlement and cash servicing of industrial and investment activity of enterprises.

International Cooperation

The Institute is actively developing partnerships with specialized foreign universities, financial institutions and educational organizations.

International studying and scientific opportunities for our students are:

• participating international academic mobility programs to European countries, including Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland;
• taking part in the international grants programs;
• blending learning;
• parallel learning;
• learning disciplines with foreign lecturers.
